My career started in the construction field in 1981 as a laborer while I attended college. When I entered college I was interested in business management and I attended Northern Kentucky to pursue my B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in Construction Management. After recieving my degree, I was promoted to Superintendent in Residential Construction. After 5 years, my next promotion was to Assistant Project Manager for Internation Commericial construction. I held that position for 3 years before moving into the position of Construction Manager. I held this position for an additional 4 years, honing my skills and becoming a top producer in my field.
I was promoted to Vice President of International Construction where I now oversee all aspects of commericial and industerial construction. During my tenure, I have implemented new concepts of multiple project trackingusing Sage, Primeveria, and MS Project. My division has a retention rate of 97% of the 435 employees in my division. This retention rate is due to the open door management that I practice as well as my junior managers.
This current position requires me to work closely with the design teams, the clients, as well as the additional corporate entities in our company. My field work is not required, but I believe that being present on all projects allows the employees to connect with me and resolve problems before they arise.
I am now returning to college to change my career because of I feel that I need to make a positive impact on society by aiding those who need mental guidance and help. With the economic and global turmoil, more and more people are suffering from mental health problems and need aid. It is my goal to first recieve my new degree, then begin at my community level to make a positive social impact. I will then begin to work on a larger scale, and work on a global level.
